Thanks to my good friend Alexi, a new one was crafted out of L-200 foam, using insulating 1" diameter tubes for the edges (which were cut in half and barge glued over the top/bottom for the trim) and put over the old belt to secure it back onto the suit. All of the tape lines you can see in the early pictures are from inserting additional shunts of poster board for just this reason. Here's what I did to build up the Cyber Chrome Handle-Headed 1970's goodness over the course of 2007 and 2008. I also epoxied on a couple of lengths of wire on the skull area, and added black plastic tubing around the flange. Although even with a clear coat the paint had a tendency to chip off with moderate wear and tear so they always need a touch up.EDIT: I cut slits in the gloves from wrist to the base of the palm, and added elastic shunts so now they are much easier to pull on and off. Many of my specific selections were made based on what I had sitting around, and there are a lot of other ways this costume could have gone. I twisted a length of wire onto each of twelve balls, then dipped them in paint and hung them inside a cage to dry (it kept the animals away from them). Once done I primed and sprayed the whole belt silver in 2 coats and put it on the suit using 4 velcro strips. I cut a hole in the bottom front of the box and took a cheap flashlight from Home Depot (or Target or gas station) unscrewed the top light and placed it in the hole.

However a good wine bottle box should work too - as long as it's sturdy cardboard and has as little writing/embossing on it as possible. Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis’ original script described the Cybermen as ‘tall, thin, clad in a silver link one piece suit’. For a variety of reasons - some practical, some personal - I did not attempt to create an exact duplicate of the costume from that show, but it's one of my favorite incarnations of the Cybermen and served as the most direct inspiration. Considering how well the leather took the paint I'm considering upgrading the whole body suit to leather pieces.
